Ovidenia Church – the Bats Cave (Saint Gregory the Decapollite) – Bistriţa: The oldest historical monument inside the Bats’ Cave is the small church Ovidenia. It was thought that the first church in the cave was built by the end of the 13th century, but it fell into ruin by the end of the 14th century, when the monks left the cave and built the Bolniţa Church, during the abbot from Tismana.

Pătrunsa Monastery – Bărbăteşti village: The hermitage is dedicated to “Saint Paraschiva”, after the name of bishop Climent’s mother. It was built in 1740 by Bishop Climent of Râmnic, in remembrance of the fact that he was born there by his mother, Paraschiva Modoran from the village Pietrarii de Jos, who was trying to escape the turkish invaders by fleeing into the mountains; she found shelter at the Buila Mountain valley, in a place called Pătrunsa.
